Font - I wanna walk out in the middle of my shift. I can't take the mismanagement anymore. Medium I do need the money. And this place is close by where I live which is important. But since I've started the management has been awful. We've been through 2 GMS in 6 months and both were fired. The most recent one was fired for having a co worker who was 30 years younger than him. relationship with a

Font - And he quickly stopped doing anything related to his actual job duties and it messed everything up and disorganized us. Our rooms our never ready for guests by 3. We accepted a new contract with a work group that takes up 40 of our rooms a day for the rest of the year and beyond. So they are guaranteed 40 clean rooms a day. And there's a whole new procedure that's separate for checking them in compared to our regular check ins. We don't even have the 40 guaranteed ready for the contract.

Font - We didn't have the staff or budget for this type of contract or workload. They did it anyway and have been no help. I came in today and the AM shift was stressed as usual. Said "you sure you wanna be here?" And dipped asap. This has caused all the staff to not help out as much as possible. And honestly I'm just mad at management.

Font - I'm the only one they schedule with no extra help or person on shift. This has left me with several shifts dealing with guests who don't have rooms ready, over bookings, dealing with communication with the 1-2 housekeepers who are sick of it all. I asked for a raise due to the increase in work load and of course my manager hasn't said anything of value in regards to it. I just wanna leave.

Font - It's interesting how they always leave me with the most hectic days and alone. But they always make sure to double up or triple up for everyone else. And of course when management is in, they have an assistant! And a gm. And so they don't have to do anything when they're here. They stay in the back office and get to leave at their Scheduled time or earlier. And there duties consist of handing their duties off to the front desk person. The "assistant" is just my managers best friend who ha

Font - Our housekeeping manager is still annoyed about her being hired. Idk. I'm just pissed off and venting. But I wanna walk out to... I just don't know. I feel like I'm gonna end up walking out anyway if I don't quit.

Font - Update to "I wanna walk out in the middle of my shift": I walked out mid shift... Medium My original post is on my profile. So yeah. The last straw so to speak was management choosing to lock our BACK office. The only office space we have to eat away from the front desk and guests so we can watch the cameras. Keep in mind, no chairs at the front desk or even mats for our feet.

Font - They didn't tell me this. But instead I had to find out by a guest asking for change and not being able to go in to get it. Had to call down our temporary live in GM who did it and then locked it again. I texted our FOM and asked if it will be locked permanently and she said "For now yea."
  • 10
Font - Well thanks for letting me know. This just made me feel extra unsafe. No place to retreat if a guest gets crazy! Besides exiting the front desk area and into the lobby. It's insane to me that they choose to lock it during the 3-11 when I'm the only one there!

Font - Well, after finding this out and being upset. A check in arrived. She was on the DNR. But my manager instead of dealing with it during her shift and calling this person to cancel, just wrote a note that said "you can choose to check her in or not." Oh thanks! So I tell her she's on the dnr list and can't check in because I know if I check her in and she trashed the room, it will be blamed on me.

Font - And of course she FREAKS OUT. Walks out to he ride and starts yelling about me. She asked them to come in as well. To talk to me. I grabbed my pepper spray and just stood as far out of her vision as I could. I felt so unsafe. Usually I'd go to the back office. But it's locked!

Font - So... I put our sign up. Took off my shirt uniform (I had a long sleeve under it), clocked out and left. My live in gm was there in the hotel. Probably his room. So I texted him and my fom. And told them I don't feel it's a good fit anymore and I didn't feel good. I also said it's unsafe to keep that door locked.

Font - The gm wants me to call him for some reason. I figure he can text me if he has questions and if he wants to call it's to ask me to come back. I knew this was gonna happen and I should've listened to my gut and quit after my shift was over that last day. Horrible way to quit I know but I should've listened to my gut. :/

Font - birdmanrules +3. 13 hr. ago Don't blame you. They once were going to lock the office door at night here. The AGM was in charge as the GM was away. I wrote out a resignation and handed it to the AGM in front of the big boss. (He had walked in after she said it)

Font - The big boss asked why I was so adamant. I told him it is the only escape route at night and I don't have another person to call for help. There is a phone in there. Cctv so I can see the other side of the door and whole hotel plus carpark.

Font - If they step outside I can lock the door on them. He told the AGM that it is not happening

Font - throwawaynochairs0 OP . 9 hr. ago It's one those things where I literally saw this outcome coming and just chose to keep trudging through it. I had a chance to quit on decent terms, but I didn't. I regret it now. But, I guess a person can only put up with so much.

Font - I can't stress enough trusting your gut. When you feel you've reached your limit, I hope no one does what I did and keeps trying. It'll end up blowing up.
